Greg McElroy has his sights set on 4 new quarterbacks in the SEC, and this year, they happen to be at traditional powers.

The ESPN analyst marked the 100-day milestone before Florida takes on Utah with a conversation with Matt Barrie about the new faces.

McElroy was asked which player will be a starter at Florida, and he chose Graham Mertz, McElroy sees Tyler Buchner starting at Alabama, Carson Beck at Georgia and Joe Milton at Tennessee.

McElroy believes Florida’s coaching staff took the best available QB in the former Wisconsin QB. Mertz has a lot of ability, but simply needed a fresh start, McElroy said, similar to former Clemson QB DJ DJ Uiagalelei moving to Oregon State. With a run-first system at Florida, McElroy said he believes could blossom and live up to the talent and potential he showed in the Class of 2019.

For Buchner, McElroy said while he’s missed time because of the pandemic in high school and injuries at Notre Dame, Buchner needs to simply be a game manager who takes care of the ball and avoids turnovers.

Beck has been the rare highly-rated QB recruit to wait his turn and not transfer.

“There’s one reason for that, because he saw the light at the end of the tunnel,” McElroy said. “He’s a great pocket passer. He’s not going to be as mobile as Stetson Bennett was.”

As for Milton, McElroy said simply to watch the Orange Bowl. And now Milton understands how to control his big arm.
