Gus Johnson and Jimmy Jackson couldn’t resist having some fun with the SEC while calling a Big Ten basketball game.

Johnson is a FOX broadcaster, regularly on the call for Big Ten football and basketball games. During the Michigan State-Ohio State hoops game, Johnson and Jackson talked about the College Football Playoff.

“… If Penn State and Ohio State get in the national championship game, you have 2 Big Ten teams playing for the national championship,” Johnson said.

“Isn’t that like the SEC? When there was like Georgia and Alabama?” Jackson said. “You know what I mean? About time for the Big Ten. So we’re pulling…”

“Some of those SEC teams come up to play in some cold weather — see what happens,” Johnson said to Jackson’s mention of SEC powers.

“”Yeah. Tennessee. Voluntarily, was like , ‘eeeh,'” Jackson joked.

“Time to get on the bus,” Johnson said.

“They got on the bus,” Jackson added, chuckling.

Ohio State defeated Tennessee in a 42-17 blowout on Dec. 21. The game was played at Ohio Stadium on OSU campus, and much was made of the freezing temperatures in Columbus.

With 4 teams remaining in the CFP, the split is 2 B1G teams (Ohio State, Penn State), 1 SEC team (Texas) and Notre Dame, an FBS independent. As the broadcasters referenced, an all-B1G championship game is possible is Ohio State defeats Texas and Penn State defeats Notre Dame in the semifinals.
