Alabama RB Derrick Henry may be close to Tim Tebow’s rushing touchdown record, but he says he’s not near him otherwise.

Henry has 22 rushing TDs this season, one shy of tying Tebow and former Auburn RB Tre Mason for the conference record, but he says he’s got a long way to go before being put in the same sentence as Tebow and be considered one of the SEC’s all-time greats.

Henry grew up a big Gators fan as a Yulee, Fla., native.

“I really loved when Tebow was there,” he told AL.com‘s Michael Casagrande on Monday afternoon. “It was a very exciting time to be a Florida fan.”

Henry still has potentially three games left to break the mark set by the former Gator QB, a player he called “legendary” after winning two national titles and a Heisman Trophy in his time at UF from 2006-09.

Henry is also in position to match Tebow’s Heisman, solidifying himself as the frontrunner for the prestigious honor after doing a makeover to the record books after last week’s performance against Auburn.

However, Henry shied away from any comparisons with Tebow on Monday.

“Oh no, no no,” Henry said. “I still have a lot of stuff to work on.”
