Dana Holgorsen has officially been hired by Houston to replace Major Applewhite as the head football coach in Houston.
How do we know? The school issued a bizarre video featuring Holgorsen with a can of Red Bull, that’s how.
Holgorsen had previously been at West Virginia for eight seasons, having racked up a 61-41 overall record during his time leading the program. That was Holgorsen’s only head coaching job until taking over in Houston. Of course, it’s pretty unusual to see a successful coach leave a Power 5 program for a Group of 5 school, suggesting that Holgorsen’s time in Morgantown may have been coming to an end sooner or later anyhow.
This season projected to be his best West Virginia team but the team finished with an 8-4 overall record. Holgorsen also had a 1-5 bowl record with at WV since the school joined the Big 12.
Houston reportedly lured Holgorsen to town by offering him a salary of $4 million annually.
