The spectacle continues: Liberty scheming up new way to get Hugh Freeze into press box
One of the biggest unlikely stories in college football during Week 1 was Hugh Freeze.
Freeze was hired at Liberty University this off-season, and he made his return to college football against Syracuse. Only this time, Freeze went viral for his press box arrangement.
Freeze recently had back surgery for a dangerous staph infection, and he was unable to be on the sideline. So, the university had a hospital bed moved to the coaches box where Freeze literally laid and helped coach the game. He gave a pre-game speech to his players, an ESPN interview and a post-game press conference from the bed.
However, it appears that Freeze will have a different arrangement Saturday, assuming he’s cleared to travel to Louisiana-Lafayette.
According to Yahoo! Sports, plans are being made to ship a dental office chair for the head coach. Unfortunately for Freeze, the hospital bed arrangement isn’t possible due to the press box being built in 1971.
Liberty lost to Syracuse 24-0 Saturday. The Flames play Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
