Hugh Freeze receives Gatorade bath after Liberty notches first bowl win in program history
Hugh Freeze’s first season back on the sideline was officially a success.
Liberty beat Georgia Southern 23-16 in the Cure Bowl on Saturday, giving the Flames’ their first bowl victory in program history. Not surprisingly, players gave Freeze a celebratory Gatorade bath, which was captured by the CBS Sports Network cameras and shared on Twitter.

The Flames finished 8-5 in Year 1 under Freeze. Earlier this month, it was reported that Freeze agreed to a multi-year extension and that the private school was planning to pay him similar to the highest-paid Group of 5 coaches. Liberty football is independent and not part of a conference.
Correction: The article originally said Freeze would be paid higher than the top Group of 5 coaches.
