Tennessee State football player Christion Abercrombie remains hospitalized following his collapse near the Vanderbilt sideline and subsequent surgery to reduce brain swelling last Saturday.

But the College Football Assistance Fund is doing its part to ease the burden on Abercrombie’s family in the form of a $7,500 grant, the organization announced Wednesday.

The sophomore linebacker was unresponsive after a first-half play and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher before being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Abercrombie emerged from emergency surgery in critical condition, though his uncle said Abercrombie is improving daily.

The CFAF is accepting contributions for the family, and those willing to make a donation specifically toward him can do so here.
