Joel Klatt feels ‘better about Georgia’ than Alabama after wild Week 5

Joel Klatt knows everything that went down Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. In fact, the FOX analyst unsurprisingly gave the Alabama the No. 1 spot on his personal poll after the Crimson Tide won in thrilling fashion against Georgia.
However, the analyst says the discussion about which team feels better about “gets a little more interesting” considering the way that game went down. After racing out to a 28-0 lead and carrying a 30-7 lead into halftime, Alabama went quiet as Georgia raced into a 4th-quarter lead.
Ryan Williams and Jalen Milroe eventually saved the day for Alabama, but that doesn’t change Klatt’s opinion. He feeels better about Kirby Smart and Georgia than he does about Kalen DeBoer’s team moving forward.
“To me, quite honestly, it’s a pretty obvious conclusion… And that is I feel better about Georgia than I do about Alabama coming away from that game. I get it, Alabama won, which is why I rewarded them the top spot in my rankings,” said Klatt. “But I also believe in this sport, and candidly, in life the cream generally rises to the top.”
Klatt would go on to say he felt the longer the game went on, the more Georgia looked like the truly better team. It’s an assessment that should rightly incense Alabama fans, but Klatt isn’t changing his mind.
“As time goes on, what you see is one team start to become a better team or reveal that they are the better team than the other. That’s what I believe was starting to happen in the 2nd half,” Klatt explained. “If you’re an Alabama fan, you are going to be incensed that I have this opinion, and you deserve to feel that way because you won the football game… What I saw in the 2nd half was a Georgia team start to pick apart the weakness that Alabama had.”
