The SEC dominated the first installment of the College Football Playoff rankings. While this was nearly a certainty heading into Tuesday night, that didn’t stop FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt from voicing his displeasure about the SEC-loaded field.

Klatt questioned 2-loss LSU being ranked at No. 10 and in the same statement mentioned that No. 11 Ole Miss lost to LSU. This prompted Klatt to make a comparison to No. 9 USC and No. 14 Utah. Utah defeated USC 43-42 on Oct. 16.

“The LSU ranking is purely a function of the committee being stuck with Ole Miss,” Klatt said.

“You all know exactly how I feel,” Klatt said. “The single committee is a failed experiment. In a subjective exercise we need more variables to reduce the statistical variance of each input.”

Klatt also responded to a tweet from The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach about CFP chair Boo Corrigan’s explanation for the committee placing 1-loss Alabama ahead of the Big 12’s undefeated TCU. Klatt used it as an opportunity to mention No. 4 Clemson’s 27-21 victory vs. No. 20 Syracuse on Oct. 22.

The next set of rankings will take place on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. ET. With key games such as No. 1 Tennessee at No. 3 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama at LSU, Klatt could have more to complain about next week, too.
