Katie Nolan and Bomani Jones have something in common in recent months.

Both of them are either departed from ESPN, or on their way out after they were popular personalities across multiple platforms at the company. But news that arrived this week drew a reaction from Nolan. According to Deadline, Jones will be the host of a new late night show on HBO, called “Game Theory.”

HBO has ordered a new weekly late night series starring journalist Bomani Jones, who will break down timely issues in sports.

Game Theory with Bomani Jones will be produced in New York starting in 2022.

Jones is currently a contributor on HBO’s Back on The Record with Bob Costas and has appeared in the HBO Sports documentaries The Battle for Tobacco Road: Duke vs. Carolina and Runnin’ Rebels. Jones has spent more than 15 years in sports media, most notably at ESPN, where he was the cohost of shows Highly Questionable and High Noon, and the podcast The Right Time with Bomani Jones.

Nolan reacted to the move on Twitter, and later deleted the tweet, but said she interviewed for the show, according to Awful Announcing.

“I interviewed for it. got a little ahead of myself thinking I was gonna get it. was crushed when I didn’t. BUT: the most important thing is that the show will exist, and bo is gonna knock it out of the park.”

Earlier this week, it was reported by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post that Jones was on his way out as the company continues to scale back salaries. His most recent deal was believed to be a three-year contract worth $2 million per year. Similarly, Nolan revealed on Twitter late last month that she was no longer with ESPN.
