Kirk Herbstreit confused for other ESPN employee who ‘constantly rips the SEC’

Kirk Herbstreit is one of the best college football media personalities in the game today – and has been for some time. He’s been one of the co-hosts of ESPN’s College GameDay for over a decade, voiced EASports’ NCAA Football series, called games as an analyst and actively engages with fans on Twitter with thoughtful and insightful responses.

Despite all his accomplishments and notoriety, Herbstreit can still be confused for someone with far less to offer – ESPN’s resident SEC basher, Danny Kannell.

This Internet tough guy attempted to bash Herbstreit after the SEC once again lead all conferences in NFL draft picks:

The only problem? It wasn’t Herbstreit who said that, it was Kanell who said it following the Laremy Tunsil fiasco:

Herbstreit’s response was great, as he was able to bury the guy that came at him and even nailed his description for Kanell.

While it’s true Herbstreit is a huge fan of his alma mater, he and his family currently reside in Nashville. In fact the decision to move to the South was in large to separate themselves from over-the-top Ohio State fans who couldn’t take it anytime Herbstreit had anything negative to say about the Buckeyes.

“Eighty to ninety percent of the Ohio State fans are great,” Herbstreit said according to Yahoo Sports. “It’s the vocal minority that make it rough. They probably represent only 5 to 10 percent of the fan base, but they are relentless.”

Sounds like a huge SEC basher to me…
