Kirk Herbstreit took his weekly look back at the latest slate of college football games by featuring a host of SEC coaches on his list of top performers.
Leading the way was South Carolina’s head coach/offensive coordinator duo of Shane Beamer and Marcus Satterfield. The Gamecocks not only pulled off a massive upset of No. 5 Tennessee, but they lit up the scoreboard while doing so, totaling 63 points and 606 yards of total offense. Spencer Rattler threw for career bests of 438 yards and 6 touchdowns while South Carolina running backs carried the ball for 153 yards and 3 scores.
Clark Lea found himself on the list for the 2nd straight week. After breaking a lengthy SEC losing streak at Kentucky on Nov. 12, Vanderbilt defeated Florida 31-24 on Saturday in Nashville. The Commodores can clinch an improbable bowl berth if they’re able to stun the Volunteers in their annual rivalry matchup during Week 13.
Finally, Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles made the list after the Razorbacks scored 42 points in a win over Ole Miss. Arkansas totaled 503 yards of total offense, most of those accounted for by Rocket Sanders (24 carriers, 232 yards, 3 touchdowns). The win clinched bowl eligibility for the Razorbacks.
