Kirk Herbstreit is one of the busiest men in sports. The analyst is not only a part of College GameDay but Herbstreit also calls Saturday night games for ABC and Thursday Night Football games for Amazon Prime.
Still, the legendary football analyst makes time to identify the most impressive coaches, players, and teams from each week of college football action. With several tight games and upsets, Herbstreit had plenty of options.
For the list of coaches, Herbstreit went with 10 total coaches to fill 7 spots. The Nos. 1-3 spots all have 2 coaches sharing the spot.

Georgia Tech’s Brent Key and Tyler Santucci earned Herbstreit’s top spot after securing a huge upset. It was a huge accomplishment to hold the No. 1 scoring offense in the country to just 23 points. The Hurricanes were also held under 100 rushing yards on the day.
At N0. 2, Herbstreit went with Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding. The Rebels surprisingly had an easy time against Georgia, upsetting the Bulldogs by a score of 28-10. Georgia collected just 245 total yards and turned the ball over 3 times.
At No. 3, Herbstreit went with Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer and Nick Sheridan. Alabama held LSU to 13 points and forced 3 turnovers in a 42-13 win.
DeShaun Foster of UCLA and Lance Leipold of Kansas received the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Kelly Poppinga of BYU and Bill O’Brien of Boston College rounded out the list.
Foster’s UCLA team picked up their 2nd impressive win in a row, defeating Iowa. Leipold’s Jayhawks took down a ranked Iowa State team, while Poppinga’s special teams unit at BYU racked up 131 yards and 1 TD on returns.
Finally, O’Brien’s Boston College team picked up their 5th win while defeating Syracuse.
