Kirk Herbstreit includes 2 SEC teams amongst top-performers for Week 1
Kirk Herbstreit was very impressed with a pair of SEC programs in Week 1.
The College GameDay analyst revealed his list of 7 top-performing teams from Week 1 on Tuesday. Two SEC teams made the cut: Georgia at No. 5 and Vanderbilt at No. 7.
Georgia crushed Clemson 34-3 in Week 1, extending its winning streak in the regular season to 40 games. The Bulldogs shutout Clemson in the second half and proved to be dominant on both sides of the ball.
Vanderbilt earned one of the biggest upset victories of any team in the country in Week 1, beating Virginia Tech in overtime. The Hokies received a lot of preseason hype and were favored by nearly 2 touchdowns in the game, but the Commodores found a way to get it done.
USC, Notre Dame, Miami and Penn State occupied the top 4 spots of Herbstreit’s list. All 4 of those programs earned power-conference wins away from home over the weekend. Boston College nabbed the No. 6 spot after it defeated Florida State in Tallahassee for the first time since 2008 on Monday night.

Several SEC teams figure to be in position to land on this list next week. Texas-Michigan, Tennessee-NC State and Arkansas-Oklahoma State project to be the top nonconference matchups featuring SEC programs in Week 2.
WOW- What a shock! DID NOT SEE THAT COMING
