Kirk Herbstreit always identifies the best players, teams, and coaches from each weekend of college football action. After a wild rivalry weekend, Herbstreit has identified the 7 teams that impressed him the most.

The analyst picked 2 schools from the SEC, 1 from the B1G, 1 from the ACC, 1 from the Big 12, 1 from the Mountain West, and 1 from the AAC.

Coming in at No. 1, Herbstreit went with Michigan. The Wolverines pulled off one of the most shocking upsets of the season by knocking off Ohio State at home. It was the 4th-straight win in the rivalry series for the Wolverines and will prevent the Buckeyes from an appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game.

At No. 2, Herbstreit went to the ACC and picked Syracuse. The Orange pulled off a huge upset of their own, knocking off Miami 42-38. The win was Miami’s 2nd of the season and kicked them out of contention for the ACC crown.

At No. 3 and No. 4, Herbstreit went with 2 SEC teams in Texas and South Carolina. The Longhorns handled business against their rivals, Texas A&M, winning 17-7 in College Station. The Gamecocks, meanwhile, took down Clemson in an in-state rivalry matchup. The Gamecocks have 9 wins for the first time since 2017.

Herbstreit went with Iowa State at No. 5. The Cyclones picked up a win over Kansas State to close out the season and secured their spot in the Big 12 Championship Game.

The analyst went with 2 under-the-radar teams at No. 6 and No. 7. Wyoming got the No. 6 spot after pulling off a surprising upset of Washington State. Memphis rounded the list out after knocking Tulane off.
