Kirk Herbstreit is out with his latest top 4 following Week 8.

The ESPN college football analyst kept his top 4 the same as last week, and all 6 of his top teams are also in the mix. The only change is he flip flopped Alabama with Clemson at Nos. 5 and 6. Herbstreit appeared to be slightly more impressed with the Crimson Tide over Mississippi State than Clemson’s narrow win over Syracuse.

Ohio State took care of Iowa after a slow start, Tennessee dispatched of UT-Martin, while Georgia and Michigan were each idle during Week 8.

There are more rivalry games at hand this week, including Georgia against Florida, Michigan against Michigan State, Ohio State at Penn State, and Tennessee against Kentucky. Clemson is off this week.

Given all of those border rivalries, there could be some separation this week as the conversation continues to be between the SEC getting 3 teams and the Big Ten jockeying for 2 teams in the College Football Playoff. November meetings between these contenders could go a long way toward determining the order ahead of the conference title games.
