Lane Kiffin on Nick Saban's Ole Miss praise: ‘He's become the rat poisoner'
Lane Kiffin had the perfect response at his Monday press conference when asked about a recent comment made by his old boss, Nick Saban.
Earlier this week, Saban said he believes Ole Miss is “probably” the best team in the SEC at this juncture of the season. When asked about it on Monday, Kiffin invoked Saban’s famous “rat poison” saying.
“He’s now become the rat poisoner then,” Kiffin said with a smile. “He’s doing exactly what he complained about.”
Ole Miss has indeed become the popular pick as the SEC’s best team entering Week 13. Paul Finebaum also gave the nod to the Rebels earlier this week after seeing Texas struggle with Arkansas this past weekend.
Still, Kiffin understands that Ole Miss doesn’t have any margin-for-error remaining if it wants to make the College Football Playoff with 2 losses.
“That changes every week based on how you play,” Kiffin said. “We’ve been playing great, but we’ve got to do that again.”
Kiffin also talked up the challenge of facing a suddenly-red-hot Florida team in the Swamp on the heels of its big win over LSU this past weekend. Ole Miss and the Gators will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon.
Go Gatah!
Had Kiffin a mere shred of self-awareness, surely, he might realize that he is his own rat poison.
