Ole Miss did not want to take away from Florida Atlantic’s moment in the Conference USA Championship Game, but soon after, the Rebels made it official: Lane Kiffin is the team’s new head coach.

In his final press conference at FAU, Kiffin tried to keep his Owls team the focus but did answer some questions about his big career move.

Kiffin’s time at Alabama as Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator was his last stop prior to taking the FAU job ahead of the 2017 season. The three seasons (2014-16) Kiffin spent with his future foe came up in Saturday’s press conference.

“Very thankful for my time there, I learned a lot from Coach, obviously,” Kiffin said. “I wouldn’t be here today without Coach Saban.”

As college football fans are well-aware, no former Saban assistant has managed to defeat Saban as a head coach. Kiffin will get his chance on Oct. 3, 2020 when the Crimson Tide come to Oxford.
