It looks like Mercedes-Benz Stadium is ready to host its first ever SEC Championship Game.

A lot will be on the line in Atlanta when Auburn and Georgia battle it out. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 2 in the standings for the College Football Playoff with a win Saturday likely cementing their place in the final four. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are ranked No. 6 but would have a strong case to make the Playoff with a win over the Tigers.

The game is shaping up to be a good matchup, and this year’s contest will have the distinction of being the first SEC Championship played in Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The contest was played in the Georgia Dome from 1994-2016 but the dome has been demolished following the opening of the new stadium.

The Georgia Dome contained a number of memories and was the host of many incredible performances, but Mercedes-Benz Stadium should prove to be a great host for the championship. Saturday’s game is quickly approaching, and the field looks ready to host the matchup.
