Mario Cristobal takes jab at Florida State, Florida after win over Noles
Mario Cristobal met with reporters at the end of Miami’s 36-14 win over Florida State on Saturday night, and he sent a clear message.
Cristobal made a point to highlight the difference between Miami’s trajectory and that of the Sunshine State’s other elite programs.
“All recruits, in-state, out of state, can now clearly see the trajectory of this program vs. the other programs [in Florida],” Cristobal said before pounding his fist on the desk in front of him.
Here’s video of the moment:

Year 3 under Cristobal has been Miami’s best so far. The Canes went just 6-10 in ACC play over Cristobal’s first 2 years with the program, but a switch has been flipped in 2024. Miami will enter the month of November with an undefeated record.
As for Florida State and Florida, things could be better. The Noles are 1-7 and have already been eliminated from bowl eligibility this season. It’s been a dreadful campaign for Mike Norvell’s team following a year in-which FSU started 13-0.
The Gators have been better than Florida State, but bowl eligibility remains a big concern. Florida is 4-3 this season but still has games remaining vs. Texas, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss.
Miami has 22 commitments so far from prospects in the class of 2025, with 14 of those coming from in-state prospects.
