Mark Emmert isn’t the most popular guy among fans these days, but he’s still the president of the NCAA.

On Wednesday, Emmert spoke with reporters and weighed in on a number of the hot-button issues facing college sports these days.

On the topic of big coaching contracts, like the ones given out to Mel Tucker, Lincoln Riley and others this year, Emmert said if that’s the market for contracts, that’s what coaches are going to be paid:

Emmert also weighed in on rumors of some of the biggest schools starting their own 32-team super league, saying he can imagine it, but it’s not practical:

We’ll see if Emmert’s take on these issues proves to be correct. For now, though, it seems coaching contracts are going to continue to skyrocket.
