Many who watched Miami coach Mark Richt’s sideline tirade about a perceived lack of a holding call in the Orange Bowl loss to Wisconsin figured it was out of character.

Richt, who grabbed an arm of an official and was visibly upset about the sequence late in the first half, tweeted an apology on Monday. Along with taking on an official, Richt also pushed one of his assistant coaches. Perhaps Richt was upset by his team’s performance, which began with a 14-3 lead only to fall behind 24-14 by halftime, and ultimately lost, 34-14.

Here’s video of the incident if you missed it:

The apology came after Richt responded to an ESPN sideline reporter at halftime about the incident by saying, “If you watch the tape, you’ll see.”
