Michael Vick named assistant coach for Atlanta’s Alliance spring football league team
The Alliance of American Football, or AAF, has officially announced another head coach and location for a franchise, as Atlanta has been named as the second host-city of the new spring professional football league.
Joining Orlando, which will be led by Steve Spurrier, the Atlanta franchise will be coached by former NFL head coach Brad Childress with Michael Vick serving as the team’s offensive coordinator.
“This is an amazing opportunity… I’ve always had a passion for teaching, a passion for coaching by some of the coaches that have coached me, and I’ve been coached by some of the best — Brad being one of them in Kansas City last year,” Vick said in his introductory press conference on Wednesday.
“When Brad called me up about this opportunity, I felt like it was something that I couldn’t pass up. I’m grateful, thankful and proud to be back in Atlanta and obviously will try to bring a championship to the city of Atlanta.”
The new league is set to begin play in February of 2019, immediately after the next Super Bowl.
