Mizzou vs. Arkansas is an important game for the Tigers this year. Though Arkansas clinched bowl eligibility with a win over Ole Miss last week, the Tigers will be playing for their sixth win of the season on Friday afternoon.

The Battle Line Rivalry matchup is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time from Faurot Field. It can be seen on CBS.

Mizzou vs. Arkansas preview

Mizzou QB Brady Cook has been playing his best football as of late, combining for 468 yards, 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions as a passer and adding 177 yards as a runner.

He’ll need to be on top of his game both with his arm and his legs if the Tigers are going to pull off the victory on Friday. Feeding the ball to Dominic Lovett and Luther Burden would be a good start to a successful afternoon for Cook.

The challenge for Mizzou’s defense, which has played well this year outside of the last quarter and a half against Tennessee, will be to slow down Rocket Sanders. The Arkansas running back trails Ole Miss freshman Quinshon Judkins for the SEC rushing title by only 4 yards (1,383 yards to 1,379) entering their respective regular-season finales.

In Arkansas’s win over the Rebels last weekend, Sanders rushed for an incredible 232 yards (averaging 9.7 yards per carry) and 3 touchdowns. Since Ole Miss plays in the Egg Bowl on Thursday night, Sanders will know exactly how many yards he needs to take the SEC rushing lead heading into bowl season.

Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson returned from injury last week and did a great job putting the ball in the end zone. Even though he only threw for 168 yards, he had 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

The Arkansas offense is much more dangerous with Jefferson taking snaps. It opens up the field for everyone else.

Defensively, Razorback standout LB Drew Sanders will be tasked with making Cook’s afternoon miserable. He leads the SEC with 8.5 sacks and would likely love nothing more than tacking on at least 1.5 more to finish the regular season with 10 sacks.

We’ll see if the veteran Mizzou offensive line can keep Cook upright with Sanders breathing down his neck all game long. Giving Cook time to throw will be a major key to success for the Tigers.

Mizzou vs. Arkansas prediction

A hungry Mizzou team comes out strong against the Hogs, building up an early lead with a Luther Burden touchdown. Inexplicably, Burden doesn’t touch the ball after halftime and a costly, Mizzou-esque late-game turnover sets up Arkansas for a game-winning field goal.

Prediction: Arkansas 27, Mizzou 24
