College football could see more realignment announcements happen in the near future, which would lead to the Big Ten and SEC being two megaconferences, per The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach.

Auerbach tweeted about a phone call she had with someone who believed that college football will eventually see the Big Ten and SEC having 20 teams (or more) in each conference. This would create two megaconferences in college football.

If this happens, it would have major implications on every conference in college football. This report came out after the news of USC and UCLA reportedly planning to leave the Pac-12 for the Big Ten. The SEC and Big Ten could force other conferences to join together to survive.
