NCAA issues statement saying it did not ask Trevor Lawrence to take down GoFundMe page
The saga of Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence’s GoFundMe page to try to help local charities that are assisting those in need during the COVID-19 outbreak continues to get weirder by the hour.
First, a page that Lawrence and his girlfriend, Anderson University soccer player Marissa Mowry, started was shut down. They said the NCAA told them to shut it down.
Now, the NCAA has responded, saying it did not ask Lawrence to close the page:

So, what happened? It’s possible (maybe even probable) that either the Clemson compliance department or the one at Anderson University told the athletes to stop out of an abundance of caution.
Now, though, it seems Lawrence and Mowry are cleared to keep their page going.
