Dean Blandino has been the NFL’s senior vice president of officiating for several years, but now he’s taking on a new challenge.

According to a release from the NCAA, Blandino will serve in a similar role for college football, as he’ll become the College Football Officiating, LLC’s director of instant replay.

In the statement, praise was given to Blandino from some of the people he’ll be working with in his new role:

“Dean emerged as the best candidate from a talented group of people interested in helping shape the future of instant replay in college football,” said Jon Steinbrecher, commissioner of the Mid-American Conference and chair of the CFO Board of Managers. “His expertise and skills will help guide this important aspect of officiating.”

Blandino will continue to serve as FOX’s rules analyst during the season, as his new role will be offseason only.

He’ll be tasked with streamlining and improving the NCAA’s replay system, so if he succeeds, he’ll be a popular guy.
