There are blowouts every week in football, across all levels. However, recently, some high schools have started to implement rules to avoid running up the score.
Now, in Nassau County in New York, one high school coach has been suspended for a week following a 61-13 victory.
Per BBC.com, Plainedge High School’s coach will miss the next game after violating the county’s lopsided score policy:
Plainedge High School’s head coach, Rob Shaver, was suspended for one game after violating the local county “lopsided scores policy”.
Under the rule, coaches have to explain their winning margin to a committee if it exceeds more than 42 points.
Despite the losing coach saying he wasn’t offended by the lopsided margin of defeat, the committee still suspended Shaver for a week.
