The top running back recruit in the nation isn’t ready to announce his commitment quite yet.

Originally scheduled to announce his commitment on Wednesday, 5-star running back Zachary Evans has decided to delay the announcement, according to Barton Simmons of 247sports.com. Evans has deleted the tweet in which he stated he would be making his college decision on Wednesday.

Evans is the No. 1 running back recruit in the 2020 class, per the 247sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 9 overall recruit.

Originally, Evans, a Houston native, had no in-state schools on his top-five list when he released it in May. However, Texas A&M has emerged as a contender to land Evans after he visited the school last month.

Evans also took an official visit to LSU, which is favored to land him per the 247sports Crystal Ball, earlier this season.

However, it’s unclear which way Evans could be trending now that he’s decided to not commit on Wednesday.

It shouldn’t take much longer for Evans to pick a school, as he’s wanting to enroll early at the school he chooses, according to Simmons. So he’ll be a name to watch during the early signing period later this month.
