Notre Dame running back and South Florida native Greg Bryant called out the SEC’s strength of schedule via Twitter.

Earlier this week, college football expert Phil Steele ranked the toughest schedules in the country, and Notre Dame’s schedule was ranked No. 1, according to Steele. Three other SEC teams — Tennessee, Arkansas and Auburn — were also featured among the top 10 toughest.

Here’s a look at the Irish’s 2014 schedule that Bryant is boasting about:

  • Aug. 30: Rice
  • Sept. 6: Michigan
  • Sept. 13: vs. Purdue*
  • Sept. 27: vs. Syracuse*
  • Oct. 4: Stanford
  • Oct. 11: North Carolina
  • Oct. 18: @ Florida State
  • Nov. 1: @ Navy
  • Nov. 8: @ Arizona State
  • Nov. 15: Northwestern
  • Nov. 22: Louisville
  • Nov. 29: USC

Purely based off opponents’ 2013 winning percentage — which I don’t think is an overall accurate measure of strength of schedule, the Irish’s opponents won 64.78 percent of its games. In contrast, Arkansas’ opponents won a college football high 65.61 percent of its games, while Tennessee’s won 65.16 percent; both of which are better than Notre Dame’s.
