Perhaps the most high-profile draft-eligible underclassman has made his decision.

Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins tweeted Monday that he will enter the 2019 NFL Draft, which is not a huge surprise after he finished the season on a tear for the No. 6 Buckeyes and flew up draft boards. You can view the statement from the redshirt sophomore signal-caller below.

Haskins led the nation with 4,831 passing yards and 50 touchdowns while finishing fourth nationally with a 174.08 passer rating. His decision to go pro creates a massive ripple effect that should significantly alter the future of several former SEC quarterbacks, most notably Justin Fields.

Fields elected to transfer to Ohio State following one season at Georgia, and he has applied for a waiver that would make him immediately eligible to play. If his request is granted, the former 5-star recruit will compete with Tate Martell for the Buckeyes’ starting job in 2019.

But Haskins’ choice also throws a wrench into the NFL draft, in which he considered by some to be the best quarterback prospect available. That could mean lower draft picks for Missouri’s Drew Lock and Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, who are part of an intriguing but not overly hyped quarterback class.

To top it all off, Haskins’ departure could mean a step back for Ohio State in the national picture, especially when coupled with coach Urban Meyer’s retirement.

We’ll see the ramifications of Haskins’ decision over the coming months.
