Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon video has been released, and it's as awful as you'd think
Recently, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the Norman Police Department should release surveillance video of Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon punching a woman in the face during a dispute in an area restaurant in 2014.
On Friday evening, the video was released to media members, and NewsOK.com posted the footage, which can be seen below:
In the graphic footage, Mixon and the victim, Amelia Molitor, can be seen arguing. Molitor shoves Mixon and Mixon responds by punching her in the face.
Upon release of the video, Mixon’s lawyers released another apology from the troubled player:
“Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologized publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University,” his attorney, Blake Johnson, wrote in a letter. “He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest.”
After the incident became public knowledge in 2014, Mixon was suspended for a full year by the Sooners and also had to serve a year of probation and complete 100 hours of community service.
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to meet the Auburn Tigers in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2 in New Orleans.
I’m definitely not siding with Mixon on this matter but I’m not necessarily siding with her either. Man or woman, if you provoke someone by slapping, punching, or pushing them, don’t play the innocent card when they rock you. Granted, he could have handled this differently but hey, the laws don’t distinguish guilt based off of the sex of the victim or offender.
Also, I wonder who her dad is going to be more angry with.
She was wrong to push him, but if it was my daughter he wouldn’t be breathing today.
I could not disagree with you more. There is no excuse to put hands on a woman unless you are in actual danger. And that girl had no chance of causing any harm to man of his strength and size. He is a coward and a pussy.
You’re right. I can dig that.
Totally agree.
I agree with you bro, aside from the houlier than thou Georgia fans. There’s always 2 sides to any argument, and women always get the benefit of the doubt. Now punching a women surely isn’t the way to go about things, but context is important. If you haven’t seen comedian Bill Burr’s skit on “No reason to hit a women,” I highly recommend you see it on youtube. It’s hilarious and relevant to this!
I think you mean fan not fans. I don’t agree with awalk at all. I wish all of the people saying you should never hit a woman would tell the women the same thing about hitting a man. Common sense should tell anyone, man or woman that most people respond to violence with violence. He didn’t have to rock her the way he did but I understand.
My bad bro, I had simply meant the fans above.
Society’s informal sanction of a man never having a reason to put his hands on a woman is definitely debatable. I’ve seen some BIG women who could kill a man with her bare hands if he didn’t fight her like she was man!
@bunkerbuster I absolutely agree with you. He is the stronger one but she is the one who escalated the verbal conflict into physical. Woman or not, if you put your hands on someone, be ready to follow through the consequences. BTW I am pretty sure if this was between two guys, the verdict would have been different. May be two game suspension.
I doubt that he would face any more consequences from this. He’s already missed the entire 2015 season. I was under the impression that this was released after the case was settled. I may be wrong, so I don’t know.
If Oklahoma comes down on him, he should know that he’s always got a home at Mississippi State. Apparently that program only suspends this type of player for half of one game, or the same as a targeting penalty. (See Jeffery Simmons)
You have got to be kidding me…
why you wonder who her daddy gonna be maddest at?
He could be mad at Mixon for hitting his daughter or her he could be mad at his daughter for gettin’ a little too intimate with a thug.
From what I understand, he called her friend a homophobic slur so she (the girl friend) called him the “n” word and that’s what started it all. Is this correct? Sounds like she was just showing him how it feels to be called something you don’t like to be called & he couldn’t handle it.
Regardless of the words that were said, she pushed and then hit him first. Words don’t physically hurt anyone the way a quick right hook does.
Aww, the big bad football player got pushed by a girl, instead of him walking away he knocks the f@#$ out of her, he is just a punk @$$ little b*/@h @$$ p@$$¥.
Wow im surprised she even got up afterwards. Not the brightest bulb provoking someone much bigger and stronger than you. He shouldn’t have responded that way but self preservation isn’t something she seems to have
Here’s to hoping that Montravius Adams gets a hold of him multiple times in the Sugar bowl and ends his career.
I’ve read all of about 2 comments since this came out, even attempting to play devil’s advocate with this…. then I come to an SEC board. Go figure. I guess he’ll be welcomed on one of your rosters next year.
I’m proud as an Arkansas fan we stopped recruiting this kid when there were character issues.
I’ve seen a woman beat a man with a tire iron and him not fight back. I’ve also seen a man get hit in the neck (where she slapped him in this video) and fall, cracking his head open. All because you don’t hit a female… Never put your hands on anyone in a violent manner. You never know how someone will react.
– Said the guy who’s cool with hitting women apparently. I pity your wife and daughter, but I’m gonna assume you lack both.
You’re a douche who doesn’t understand that both men and women can equally suck sometimes.
Love the user name, Dr. Toboggan.
No excuse for this behavior. He should have charges brought against him. I ultimately find some of the comments on here to be the most deplorable thing in this situation. Are we truly getting to a point where we’ll accept men hitting women again? I could understand his actions in his life, or someone else’s, was at stake but clearly it was not. Real men live by a code great than “she started it” but maybe those men are becoming a thing of the past. Very sad responses to this video/post.
Agree 100%, he could’ve simply walked away and been done with the situation. Instead he acted like a spineless, d*ckless, piece of sh*t p*ssy and punched a girl in the face. There is no defense or excuse for what he did. Anyone trying to condone that is an even bigger p*ssy then Mixon.
Not as big as a p*ssy as calling people a pussy behind a keyboard.
No, sorry any guy that hits a woman or sucks up to and takes the side of a woman beater is trump of all p*ssies nice try though, you inbred p*ssy son of a b*tch.
The appropriate thing would have been to push her away after she got violent, or retreat. If the kid had any respect for women, this is what he would have done. The vicious – and I mean REALLY vicious – sucker-punch to the face was waaaaaaay over the line. And, of course, running away after decking her says even more about his character. Or lack thereof. I wonder how his mama felt when she saw this?
Sucker-punch? While I in no way, shape, or form condone his response, it’s a stretch to call that a sucker punch. She had stood up, had her hands on him and was actively assaulting him when he struck her. In instigating the physical contact she maybe assumed he wouldn’t retaliate, but in no way should his retaliation be seen as coming out of nowhere.
Actively assaulting, huh? Best she could be arrested for would’ve been drunk & disorderly. Mixon, however, did his best to end the confrontation with a (1) “frightened animal” pose after he was shoved (2) punch to a defenseless woman (3) fleeing the scene. So I guess his retaliation was warranted? Be warned, folks: feral beasts posing as humans should ALWAYS be treated as dangerous. This thug would never have been anywhere in the vicinity of OK had it not been for his physical skills; emotionally and intellectually, he should’ve still been in the hood where his behavior would’ve been more expected and – likely – better defended against. Poor Amelia had no idea that she was poking the bear. She is stupid; he is dangerous. Anyone defending his actions are cucks.
Put the rope down. Your bed sheets are showing and your cover is blown. Anyone defending him are cucks? More like those that are defending her. She assaulted him first, and yes he was wrong to hit her, but if she hadn’t called him a n***** and assaulted him, he wouldn’t have hit her. He’s done his time and the girl got off scott free. He’s hardly a “ghetto a$$ thug,” he just made 1 mistake.
I’m the type of guy who hates people who cry racist over everything and that was a pretty bad thing to say.
So you’re saying that people defending him like to watch their significant other have sex with someone else? I’m confused.
A sucker-punch is an unexpected punch that a person is defenseless against. Tell me why she would have been expecting a punch, especially that roundhouse right that would have made most MMA fighters happy. No, she’s not pristine here, but let’s all recall what started this: Mixon throwing out an epithet, and getting one in return. You reap what you sow.
And frankly, the number of folks here semi-rallying behind Mixon disgusts me. There’s only one reason to attempt to justify what he did . . .
“tell me why she should have been expecting a punch”, because she was engaged in a physical confrontation? Again, I don’t condone any of this, but it’s naïve to think it impossible for a person whose 1) been pushed in the chest and 2) struck in the face to strike back. She didn’t think about the consequences of what happens when you strike a deplorable piece of sh!t, but I’m guessing she never does this again at 2:40 in the morning.
Just to turn it back to you, if you reap what you sow then what should she have conceivably expected to reap after her physical behavior? Would one teach their daughter it’s OK to strike a man without fear of retaliation or rather to only fear retaliation when you pick fights with the same sex?
Worse mistakes have been made by young men and time has healed the wounds. Its been two years since this fire storm, he was wrong and paid for his mistake and I’m sure has learned a valuable lesson is life. Time to move on, but I’m sure this will come up again after the beginning of his NFL $$$$$$ career.
Are you serious his NFL career??? He’s done.
I guarantee you, especially after the escalation in domestic violence awareness in the NFL, there are 32 GMs who regard this guy as a potential career-killer. He’ll be lucky to land in Canada or Europe.
Agree 100%, you are spot on with all of your posts, this guy gets it! 👏👏👏
‘Preciate it!
Should he have hit her? Ehhh, probably not, but if some random female calls me a racial slur then shoves and proceeds to continuosly hit me, I might not hit her but I’ll definitely put her ass on the ground. He’s done his time and this is old, move on.
MLK would be proud…btw that’s sarcasm in case your dumba$$ couldn’t understand.
To put it in term you understand, what Bringtherain said is that he probably shouldn’t have hit her as hard as Clemson did to your cocks this year.
To put in terms your mental capacity can comprehend. Men shouldn’t hit women, period, unless you are a cowardly piece of sh*t. Here’s to hoping Mixon try’s to pick up your mom, sister, I would say significant other, but by looking at your responses, we all know you are destined to die a virgin, next time.
*tries
No one is saying that he should’ve hit her you mouth breather. He rightfully got punished and missed the entire 2014 season as a result. What I’m arguing is that there’s no way he should get in trouble again over something 2 years ago because of some chick he’ll never want to talk to again anyways. And also don’t act like he just hit her for no reason whatsoever. Butt kickings just don’t come out of nowhere. Context is important in ALL cases, just like it is in murder, theft, rape, AND domestic violence. Should of he hit her? No. But should you act like it came out of nowhere and assume that the chick is completely innocent? Absolutely not. It’s because of human toilets like you that men face more prison time for the same crime than women do, get the short end of the stick in child custody and rape cases, and are always to blame in domestic violence cases. Get off your sack of manure pedestal and get some commonsense. This ain’t the 1800s anymore, women aren’t these helpless beings, SHE should accept the consequences of her actions just like he accepted his.
@auburnsuckselephants wtf are you rambling about. Have your closest Alabama relative that wasn’t conceived of incest to read the original post and my reply to it, because you make no sense. It’s a hard concept for your trailer park a$$ but stay on point, the original poster said if it was him she would’ve ended up on her a$$ because of the racial slur, I simply replied that MLK would be proud, which is sarcasm. As far as your post you state he shouldn’t have hit her but she should be held accountable which is a contradiction you f*cking moron. You should’ve quit while you were behind, kid.
Hey Bubba Bill Cletus, I’m sorry reading is too hard for you, maybe I should’ve written that post in crayon so you stupid USC (the lame non California one) fans can understand what I was saying. I figured you would go for the incest joke, probably because you’re insecure about your sister-wife Velveeta You should’ve quit while you were 35 and in 10th grade.
If my post was confusing to you, try reading the “The very Hungry Caterpillar” as a basic reading lesson, then work your way up as I’m sure you’ve never made it past that book. Maybe your aunt-grandma can help you.
@alabamaloveshisdadsc*ck. Nice try at a deflect, the fact remains that your contradictions, perhaps knock some of your brothers d*cks out of your mouth to ask a family member that wasn’t conceived in a Walmart parking lot by another relative, what that word means, and your ramblings are not on point with the original post or the reply. Have the nurse that wipes you, to loosen up your foam helmet, because you are just embarrassing yourself, as far as the incest jokes they are relevant since statistics show that Alabama leads the nation in cases of incest per capita, so the stats prove that’s it’s likely that you or a family member is a product of family love, lol.
You’ve yet to find any real contradictions, much like south carolina has yet to find any meaningful place in football history.
Since we’re talking about statistics, Alabama has more National Championships than:
You have teeth.
You can count.
The number of books you’ve “redd”
We have less national championships than:
The amount of times you’ve been arrested.
The amount of times that Clemson’s beaten your a**
The amount of siblings you have
The amount of siblings you’ve slept with
The amount of times you’ve been divorced
The number of restraining orders you have
And much, much more!
Enjoy your 6-6 meaningless bowl berth. I hope your sister wife beats you up and you better not try to defend yourself or you’re a hypocrite… That is if your 400 pound sister wife can get out the trailer to get to you in the first place.
@alabamalovesbbc
lol you act like you play for bama, lol your fata$$ hasn’t played a sport in your life. You are just another fat welfare recipient who diddles their relatives and jerks it to your Nick Saban poster. Alabama is tops in obesity, incest, and trailer parks per capita. As far as the championships, most of the players aren’t from Alabama and the ones that are, are gone as soon as they get a chance, you have to be a special kind of slow to stay in the fat, inbred, trailer park capitol of the world. As far as the topic at hand, you may get to keep your “job” riding to the mailbox every month on your fat scooter to get that government check after punching women, but that pos Mixon is done. I see you can’t come up with anything original, so I’ll let you get the last word in, you obviously need the win since God has thrown you so many L’s. I’m going to get back to f*cking your toothless mom out of spite. Gave her a 20 ounce of the dew and that wh*re was ready to f*ck. Go ahead and make it count you d*ckless little b*tch, lol
Bill, the only thing ignorant is you believing women are not equal to us men. She called him a n*****, shoved him, spit on him, slapped him and proceeded to try and choke him. Natural instinct is to take a swing or shove someone off. I’ve had women shove and slap me and I’ve never laid a hand on them, but then again they’ve never continued to assault me either. Keep on being a #cucksforcocks.
@bringtherain Jesus Christ what kind of meth is floating around bama these days. First off you don’t know what a cuck is, perhaps you should get your wife to explain it to you, hint: it has something to do with her and her BBC friend. Secondly no one is condoning what she did, but no way did it warrant a punch to the face considering he could’ve easily walked away. Are you seriously implying he had to defend himself? please he couldn’t handle a shove or a slap perhaps football isn’t for him to begin with. Let me fix your hashtag #bringtherainswifelovesbbcintheirbedwhilehewatches. You’re welcome, dipsh*t.
Hey, what is the difference between a litter of puppies and South Carolina Gamecocks fans?
Eventually puppies grow up and stop whining.
Bill, I’m white, and you lack serious reading comprehension. I never claimed that racial slurs alone were grounds for assault, I stated that racial slurs and assault were grounds for self defense. Sure, he should have just pushed her off and left, but sjw’s like yourself would still fault him. It’s 2016, women are allowed in combat, so why can’t men defend themselves against women? Equal rights equal fights.
@bringtherain I don’t care what race you are, I read your ignorant statement loud and clear, you made the statement that if a woman made a racial slur to you, and shoved you, you would physically put her on her a$$, which makes you a punk b*tch. As for Mixon he could’ve walked away even after the girl shoved and slapped him, instead he chose to knock her out, which you obviously condone, maybe next time it will be your mom, daughter, or wife that gets the Mixon treatment then let’s see how you feel about it.
Those of you that are wishing for his career to end are no better than he. This is not 1950. There is no difference between a man and a woman in the eyes of the law, and your sense of chivalry is hilarious. You shouldn’t hit ANYONE, and not a single person here has condoned his actions. We’re just not gonna call some inebriated entitled (since you guys love that word) little college girl who expects to spit, push, and slap people with no c9sequences
Because she has a vagina the “victim”. Its outrageous. Mixon punched someone, and that is wrong. He left which is cowardly. But I’m not going throw her a pity party, and I’m definitely not going to make any judgement about him that I didn’t make about her too.
Its hilarious that many of you who talked about being a man are the same ones who ate wishing mix on bodily harm and calling him names like a wounded school yard bully. What kind of man is that? … Smh.
+1
I’m tired of seeing so many men get legally screwed by women at the college scene. What he did was wrong, but that doesn’t mean he should have to forfeit the rest of his football days for some girl he won’t ever talk to again anyway.
It’s called consequences for your actions. He won’t have any lingering legal consequences to deal with, but he’ll be carrying that real-world baggage around for the rest of his life. You don’t get to brutally hammer a woman in public, then plead sympathy and forgiveness for a momentary “mistake”. Like-minded men will offer all types of mitigating arguments to try and soften the truth and downplay the unwarranted viciousness of the punch, but there’s no getting around this video. Portraying Mixon as a victim is just ludicrous.
Just like it’s ludicrous to want to ruin a young mans career for taking the wrong action in a bad situation. Why was this brought up again anyway? This happened two years ago and Mixon voluntarily allowed the video’s release so that this issue would die once and for all! Apparently being sorry and meaning it isn’t enough for you people. I would love to see how much your tone would change if this was your son still being attacked for a wrong thing he did 2 years ago. And I don’t want to hear “He wouldn’t do that if he was my son” either. I’m sure his parents didn’t think that as well.
I am NOT calling mixon a victim lmao!!! I literally just explained that. I pointed out no one is condoning it, I called his leaving cowardly. I just hate that you guys can’t say the same about her action because you view females as inferior, physically and mentally weak, and thus not responsible for their actions. It is YOU who does not understand consequences. Mixon was punished, rightfully so. I’m just denouncing the way some of you fail to hold both parties accountable. Your chivalry isn’t doing women any favors, and many of you like sevent are being pretty blatantly biased towards what you perceive as “thug culture”. Btw, I’ve never been in a fight with anyone, male or female, ever. Never struck any one ever. Lol try to demonize someone you don’t know in a message board. Learn to read.
I repeat: like-minded men will offer all types of mitigating arguments to try and soften the truth and downplay the unwarranted viciousness of the punch.
Spend some time working with battered women and brutalized kids and let’s see how much sympathy and tolerance you have for the batterer and brutalizer.
Mountain dog, you’ve been on the mountain too long. I’m not sympathizing with mixon. I’m glad he was punished for his actions. I am simply stating she should be held accountable as well. Pushing, slapping, and spitting is literally battery and assault. Its a two way street. They both should have been arrested. But carry on with your baseless statements about the vicious predator mindsets of anyone who disagrees with you. The world will be a better place when your generation finally dies off and we can escape your bizarre medieval culture.
My original reply got caught up in moderation. Slightly revised:
Mountain Dog Your comment is awaiting moderation.

1) I never said anything about a “predator”. Your words, bub.
2) I did not giver her a pass. She is culpable, but Mixon’s response to her push and slap was not proportional to the “danger” he was in. It was unnecessarily vicious and brutal. He broke 4 bones in her face and could have easily damaged her for life or killed her.
3) Remember, this all happened because Mixon called her friend an insulting name due to his sexual orientation. Not saying she was right to get physical, but Mixon started it.
4) Yes, as a husband and father of a 17 YO girl, I’ve got a real problem with a 210-pound male athlete savagely decking a much smaller female. Then sauntering away like he doesn’t have a care in the world. You may call this “bizarre” or “medieval”, but that says more about you than me.
5) My comment about “like-minded men” wanting to give Mixon a pass just because he served out his sentence and punishment means exactly what it says.
6) Seeing this as overly brutal and indicative of a bigger problem about how some men treat women is not confined to my generation. Wishing us to “die off” (aren’t you just so precious) won’t change human nature. You can wave your blindfold and justice scales all you like, but some things about men and women are simply visceral. Enlightenment is in the eye of the beholder.
7) As for my having been on the mountain too long, come and give it a try, Sparky. After you’ve peed your pants and stopped wailing for mommy, you’ll find you might have actually grown a pair. Maybe.
(Sarcasm intended) Its plain and simple. No suspension warranted, no foul. If women demand they be treated as equals, which they certainly are, then it shouldn’t matter if a man defends himself against a woman just the same as he would against a man. It might be harsh, but would anybody be crying foul if the person in question had a penis?
If the “victim” was a man, mixon would have gone free on self-defense.
It is “cultural” for those people to slap women around
Look at Rap music and ghetto life for daily examples
The dumb blond was mouthing off and got bit$$ slapped
“Those people”, “cultural “? Aren’t you late for your local klan rally? I’m sorry you weren’t raised better.
Dee, are you really ignorant enough to make that type statement?
No, wait, calling you ‘ignorant’ is like calling some of that caliber an insult.
And the post from 33014, hits the nail on the head.
I’m friend with a few women who would love to meet you. (Survivors of spouse abuse).
Losing to ain’t ya, and tell yourself (Dum) hey for me.
Seven T, you’ve posted a lot of really worthless, insulting and childish crap on this site, but I think you just outdid yourself.
Thats music to his ears.
Mt. Dog
I took the liberty of reading some of your recent comments and some are good comments and some are not so I guess that makes us even.
I was outraged when I saw the video….I had not heard about the incident when it happened.
I suppose you think my comment was racist. Race has nothing to do with the culture and thuggish behavior of the worthless underclass element in all races. The underclass are white, black, hispanic and asian alike
What you won’t find in my posts, Seven T, are insults and name-calling behind an anonymous Keyboard Commando mindset. My comments above about your posting history is about as far as I’ve gone in calling someone out on SDS (verifiable trolls excepted). I generally don’t post anything on this site I wouldn’t say directly to someone’s face in front of witnesses. Try it sometime – you might find it leads to a better degree of discussion rather than escalating argument.
I’m glad you were outraged at the video, but it doesn’t come across that way in your post. And did you really think beginning a comment with, “those people . . .” would land you anywhere but in hot water?
MT. DOG
I agree…but to be fair my name calling is only directed at a couple of the worst sort of trolls on SDS…paris is one of them, a completely awful person
It looked like he started to walk on until the shove. Doesn’t make it right, but in the heat of the moment I can see getting caught up especially since it was a punch vice several. He’s already received his punishment
If the “victim” was a man then mixon would have gotten off on self defense. It’s 2016, women are allowed in combat. Are they not equal to men in your eyes?
hii
