Since the infamous “Kick-Six” game in 2013, Alabama has controlled the annual Iron Bowl rivalry with Auburn.

However, this year’s game is sure to be an intense one, as both teams still have hopes of making the College Football Playoff.

Therefore, ESPN host Paul Finebaum said, it reminds him a bit of that 2013 matchup, when Auburn won and advanced to the national championship game. On WJOX’s “The Opening Drive” on Monday, Finebaum said Alabama faces a tough test, but a loss would have them feeling empty.

“Losing this game and being denied, like we saw four years ago, would be the worst possible feeling,” he said. “It just didn’t seem possible. We all knew before the season this was going to be a treacherous game. It would be just about as empty a feeling as you could possibly have.”

He added that the feeling for Alabama fans this time around is one of trepidation, as the Crimson Tide faithful know this weekend’s game won’t be easy.

“Four years ago, it was difficult as well, but there was such a blind belief that Alabama could win no matter what,” he said. “There’s a little bit of apprehension here, and that’s what makes this such an intriguing game.”

Whatever happens at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the rest of the country will be watching. If Auburn wins, it could cause some chaos in the CFP rankings heading into championship weekend.
