Paul Finebaum is extremely impressed with what he saw from Colorado in Week 5.

The Buffs were 2-touchdown underdogs on the road at UCF on Saturday, but they cruised to a 48-21 win over the Golden Knights. Shedeur Sanders threw for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns while Travis Hunter continued his elite play on both sides of the ball.

Finebaum went as far as to say Colorado is a “legitimate contender” in the Big 12.

โ€œI am โ€˜Paul Inโ€™ and for the first time since Prime got there two years ago, I think this is a legitimate football team,โ€ Finebaum said on SportsCenter Sunday morning, via On3. โ€œItโ€™s not about hype, itโ€™s not about the stars, itโ€™s about a football team that was the most impressive school to me of all yesterday, and I know that includes Alabama. But this team went on the road to a tough place, a big underdog, and they dominated, and they did it effectively.

โ€œAnd of course, they hadย Travis Hunterย andย Shedeur (Sandersย and) everything else that goes with Deion Sanders. But they looked like a real football team instead of a gimmick. And I could not be more impressed. And I think for the first time, they may be a legitimate contender in their league.โ€

Colorado is now 4-1 on the season with its only loss of the year coming against Nebraska a few weeks ago. The Buffs are 2-0 in Big 12 play after also picking up a win vs. Baylor last weekend.

Deion Sanders’ team has a well-earned bye week in Week 6 but will face Kansas State at home in Week 7.
