Paul Finebaum saw what happened in the SEC Championship Game a month ago when Alabama knocked off a previously unbeaten Georgia team 41-24 in Atlanta.

Entering the College Football Playoff National Championship Game next Monday night in Indianapolis, Georgia is once again the favorite.

Appearing on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX on Monday, Finebaum previewed the rematch, saying the absence of Alabama WR John Metchie III is probably the biggest difference between the SEC title game and this looming matchup:

“I think conventional wisdom would say it won’t be the same game,” Finebaum said. “Still not really certain what is going to change dramatically. What’s the biggest difference between today and a month ago? It’s probably John Metchie. We saw indications of that Friday afternoon in Dallas, but I think the buildup will be similar, other than there really is a lot of pressure on Georgia.

“You never can say that Alabama is playing with house money, but they’ve beaten Georgia. Whether or not a rematch, a sequel, is an advantage or disadvantage can be debated until the end of time. But, the coaching matchup clearly favors one team, and I think we all know which one that is.”

Can Kirby Smart pick up his first win over Nick Saban? Or, will the Tide once again dominate the Dawgs? There’s a lot on the line next Monday in Indy!
