Paul Finebaum puts top 10 team on 'upset alert' in Week 1
Paul Finebaum believes Notre Dame should be on upset alert as it prepares to face off against Texas A&M in Week 1.
While it wouldn’t be an upset in Vegas (Texas A&M is favored by 3 points at DraftKings and most other shops), it would be an AP Poll upset. In the preseason media poll, the Fighting Irish are No. 7 while Texas A&M comes in at No. 20.
Finebaum made his upset alert pick while appearing on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ on Friday morning. Finebaum said the crowd at Kyle Field in College Station is playing into his decision to put the Fighting Irish on upset alert.
“That’s one of the fiercest environments in all of college football,” Finebaum said. “I’ve seen average A&M teams beat great teams, including Nick Saban 2 years ago. I think it could very well happen again tomorrow night.”
Notre Dame was a slight favorite in the betting markets until it lost left tackle Charles Jagusah to a season-ending injury in fall camp. The line has move to Texas A&M -3 as the Irish now play to start a true freshman at left tackle on Saturday in College Station.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

There was nothing average about TAMU’s roster two years ago, but their performance as a t-e-a-m didn’t live up to it for sure. Agree with Finebaum however – ND will fall.
