Paul Finebaum appeared on ESPN on Sunday morning in his usual spot, signaling that the college football season has officially begun!

After a busy Week 1 that saw some incredible performances from top teams, Finebaum, the SEC Network host, provided his rankings of the top 4 teams in the country.

As you can see below, Finebaum included both Georgia and Alabama among his top 4 teams. Here’s what he had to say:

4. Clemson Tigers: “I’m going to start with a team we haven’t even seen yet. I can do whatever I want. Fourth is Clemson. They’ll play on Monday night against Georgia Tech. They will handle that pretty easy. Clemson, though, has a pretty tough schedule. I say that because they play in the ACC where we saw carnage all weekend long. They will see Notre Dame later on, and I think that will help establish Clemson for yet another run at the Playoff.”

3. Ohio State Buckeyes: “At No. 3, Ohio State. They underwhelmed (against Notre Dame), but they’re still in good shape. They were No. 2 in all the polls.”

2. Georgia Bulldogs: “At No. 2, is Georgia. You can make an argument that Georgia should be No. 1. They beat Oregon, but I discount any win against a Pac-12 wannabe. We’ve seen enough of them, but Stetson Bennett showed he’s ready for primetime.”

1. Alabama Crimson Tide: “At No. 1, Alabama. Bryce Young well on his way to being in the front row in New York. The Tide will get a good opponent this week when they go to Texas.”

Alabama heads to Texas next weekend for a marquee showdown in Austin. Will the Tide and the other top teams on Finebaum’s list continue to impress?

We’ll see where things stand this time next Sunday after another busy weekend of college football action. There should be plenty for Finebaum to break down next week, too.
