Paul Finebaum ranks top 4 teams after Week 6
Week 6 is in the books, and six teams have really separated themselves as elite through October 5th.
Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma have created a decent sized gap between them and the rest of the field. One team to watch outside of that six is the Florida Gators after knocking off Auburn. Florida travels to LSU this week, and we’ll learn a lot about both teams Saturday.
Paul Finebaum joined SportsCenter Sunday morning to update his top four teams.
“Right now, Ohio State is the best team in the country,” Finebaum said.
Finebaum’s top four after Week 6:
1. Ohio State Buckeyes: “I’m all over Ohio State. No Urban (Meyer)? I’m on the bandwagon.”
2. Alabama Crimson Tide: “Well, we didn’t see them this weekend, so they can’t move up.”
3. Georgia Bulldogs: “The Dawgs struggled against Tennessee early on, and they lit it up in the fourth quarter. Defense looks good, and Jake Fromm looks serviceable.”
4. LSU Tigers: “LSU has a huge game this weekend against Florida. The question is do they have a defense. We’re going to find out this weekend against Florida.”
Finebaum also listed Penn State as one team to watch due to the Nittany Lions’ elite defensive play.
I’m by no means saying that UGA is the best team in college football, but to say that they “struggled” in the first quarter is a wee bit disingenuous. They were down by a point… that’s not struggling.
Finebaum asks, “Does LSU have a defense?”…Well…that defense – minus a few key position players – held the #9 ranked offense which had been averaging 533 yards and 38.5 points/game to 159 total yards (140 pass; 19 rush) and 6 points…yeah, LSU has a defense…
Lsu fans should prob drop the whole Utah State elite offense thing. They’re stats are a little skewed they scored 62 points and 700 yards against stoney brook.
Jake Fromm looks “serviceable”? He was what, 24 of 28 for 288 yards spread out to 9 different players. When I think “serviceable”, I think more along the lines of Bama’s defense this season: Not up to their normal standard, but doing enough…
Thinking the sun might be getting through the “no hair zone” up top.
