Kirkland said he kept Texas in his “back pocket” throughout his recruitment before they led the way at the end:
“The communication really never stopped,” Kirkland said per Chad Simmons with On3. “Texas was always in my back pocket. They were always called the Sixth Man or the Dark Horse of my recruitment. They just ended up being in the front pocket and leading the way.”
According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Kirkland is the No. 25 OT nationally for the class of 2023.
