The 2016 SEC champion will be the last to claim the title in the Georgia Dome.
Starting in 2017, the game will be played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is next door to the Georgia Dome. The stadium’s official Twitter account shared a construction update photo Tuesday:
Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s primary function will be the home stadium of the Atlanta Falcons, but like the Georgia Dome, it will also host college football games. The first game at the new stadium will be the Week 1 showdown between two of the last three national champions: Alabama and FSU on Sept. 2, 2017 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic.
In May, the new stadium made headlines for some of its fan-friendly prices on concessions.
