With six matchups involving Southeastern Conference teams on the docket, here’s a list of the player to watch in each SEC game for Week 6:
12:00 p.m., Florida at Tennessee, SEC NETWORK
Justin Worley, QB, Tennessee
Justin Worley is coming off his best performance in an SEC rivalry game. Worley threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns on 27-of-44 passing. The senior looks to become the first Tennessee quarterback since Erik Ainge in 2004 to beat Florida on Saturday.
12:00 p.m., No. 6 Texas A&M at No. 12 Mississippi State, ESPN
Kenny Hill, QB, Texas A&M
In a battle of two Heisman hopefuls, Kenny Hill and the Aggies travel to Starkville, MS., to take on Dak Prescott and Mississippi State. Hill may have lost ground in the Heisman race, despite his 17 touchdowns and 1745 passing yards through five games. Facing a tough road opponent, “Kenny Trill” has an excellent chance to jump ahead of his competition.
3:30 p.m., No. 3 Alabama at No. 11 Ole Miss, CBS
Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Amari Cooper has provided the perfect No. 1 option for first-year starter Blake Sims. Cooper has 655 yards and five touchdowns in four games. Coming off a bye week, Cooper should provide another stellar performance against a talented Ole Miss secondary.
4:00 p.m., Vanderbilt at No. 13 Georgia, SEC NETWORK
Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
Todd Gurley leads the SEC with 610 yards and six touchdowns on 69 carries. Gurley’s average fell to 8.8 yards per carry last week, despite a career-best 208 yards. The junior tailback should see another stellar performance facing a struggling Vanderbilt team.
7:00 p.m., No. 15 LSU at No. 5 Auburn, ESPN
Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn
Cameron Artis-Payne currently ranks fourth in the SEC in rushing yards. He has five touchdowns and is averaging 117 yards per game. For Auburn to remain in contention for an SEC title, Artis-Payne will need to provide a big performance against LSU on Saturday.
7:30 p.m., South Carolina at Kentucky, SEC NETWORK
Dylan Thompson, QB, South Carolina
Dylan Thompson missed practice earlier this week with a sprained neck. However, the senior quarterback will start in Saturday’s game against Kentucky. The Gamecocks have used a pass-heavy offense all season and will likely continue to do so this weekend. Thompson’s performance will ultimately decide the outcome against a rising Kentucky team.
