Power ranking the SEC’s best wide receivers after Week 9

With every team besides Ole Miss finished with its bye week, the receiver rankings should start to firm up in November. For now, there’s still a lot of trending both upward and downward among SEC pass catchers, as three receivers on this week’s list had quarterback changes and another three were on a bye week.

A lot of the press leading up to Alabama vs. LSU this week will focus on the premier running backs, but some of the conference’s best receivers could be difference-makers in the game, as well.

Based on what they’ve done from the openers to now, here’s a glance at how we would rank the SEC’s wide receivers:

10. Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia

The Bulldogs switched to QB Faton Bauta, and it didn’t help the passing game. Mitchell is still Georgia’s top passing target, but is hurt by a struggling offense.
Last game: 4 catches, 60 yards
2015 season: 39 catches, 565 yards, 4 TD

9. Antonio Callaway, Florida

UF’s stud rookie receiver doesn’t make a lot of catches, but when he does they turn into big plays. Against Georgia, Callaway notched his third 100-yard game, the first freshman to do so in UF history.
Last game: 3 catches, 110 yards, TD
2015 season: 19 catches, 418 yards, TD

8. De’Runnya Wilson, Mississippi State

Wilson was on a bye, but his consistency as a reliable target for QB Dak Prescott keeps him on the top-10 list.
Last game: 4 catches, 91 yards, TD (Week 8)
2015 season: 33 catches, 524 yards, 6 TD

7. Travin Dural, LSU

The Tigers were on a bye, but Dural remains ranked after all the upward and downward trends in the conference shake out.
Last game: 5 catches, 132 yards, TD (Week 8)
2015 season: 24 catches, 426 yards, 2 TD

6. Ricky Seals-Jones, Texas A&M

The Aggies’ change at quarterback from Kyle Allen to Kyler Murray didn’t affect the upward-trending Seals-Jones, who is sad to see the calendar change to November after a 20-catch, 304-yard month of October.
Last game: 6 catches, 88 yards
2015 season: 30 catches, 398 yards, 2 TD

5. Christian Kirk, Texas A&M

After a red-hot start, Kirk has cooled off significantly in his past two games. The freshman wideout is having to deal with increased attention from opposing defenses as well as a quarterback change.
Last game: 6 catches, 37 yards
2015 season: 47 catches, 662 yards, 4 TD

4. Calvin Ridley, Alabama

Ridley was on a bye week, but still slots in at No. 4 after a little bit of shuffling around him. The freshman playmaker could slip next week after a showdown with LSU’s secondary.
Last game: 7 catches, 88 yards (Week 8)
2015 season: 45 catches, 525 yards, 3 TD

3. Ricardo Louis, Auburn

The Auburn offense is struggling, but QB Sean White has found a favorite target in Louis, who won the box score battle with the conference’s top pass catcher this week.
Last game: 4 catches, 137 yards, TD
2015 season: 36 catches, 563 yards, 2 TD

2. Pharoh Cooper, South Carolina

Cooper’s streak of consecutive 100-yard games was snapped at three against Texas A&M. A weak closing to an otherwise outstanding October (27 catches, 389 yards, 2 TD) warrants overlooking for now.
Last game: 4 catches, 22 yards
2015 season: 44 catches, 609 yards, 4 TD

1. Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss

The conference’s top receiver continues to put up triple digits like it’s no big deal, and widened the gap between Nos. 1 and 2 in the power rankings this week. If QB Chad Kelly can consistently get the ball in Treadwell’s hands, the Rebels could make it to Atlanta.
Last game: 7 catches, 114 yards, TD
2015 season: 61 catches, 870 yards, 6 TD
