Three SEC West contests highlight the league slate this weekend.

So what will the headlines be come Monday morning?

Two playoff teams: Oregon suffered a huge loss on Thursday night which is welcome news for SEC fans. By the end of the night Saturday, the SEC West’s undefeateds will go from five to three or potentially two. Can either of the Mississippi schools cement itself as a legit contender? Can Auburn continue its success? College football’s best division will have all eyes on it this weekend; what will the playoff committee see?

Dak Prescott throws his name into the Heisman hat: Texas A&M’s visit to Starkville to take on Mississippi State gets us started tomorrow afternoon, and I like the Bulldogs to win at home. I think Dak Prescott has a big day against an A&M defense that has some holes in it. Prescott has 11 touchdowns this season to just two interception and is averaging 100 yards rushing over his last four games. With a big day tomorrow, Prescott surges into the Heisman Trophy conversation.

Auburn quietly 5-0: Alabama. Texas A&M. Ole Miss. Mississippi State. Anyone remember Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers? Auburn is 4-0 and No.5 in the country, and it seems they’ve gotten there very quietly again this season. Look out for the Tigers to make a statement tomorrow night against LSU and stake its claim as a favorite to make it to the College Football Playoff.

Tennessee gets over the hump: Tennessee got a program-defining win in Butch Jones’ first year over South Carolina on Rocky Top, and they get another big win over a Florida team that the Vols have not beaten since 2004. The Volunteers came close to a big win last weekend in Athens, but don’t be surprised if Jones and his youthful Volunteer team down Florida at home tomorrow.
