The SEC released its players of the week following a solid Week 2 performance from the conference.

While there were a few surprises like South Carolina blowing out Kentucky 31-6 on the road and Auburn falling to Cal, most of the outcomes played out like experts predicted.

The most impressive showing was undoubtedly Texas going into the Big House and handling the defending national champions with ease, handing Michigan its first loss since the 2022 Fiesta Bowl against TCU with a dominating 31-12 victory.

It’s no surprise Texas QB Quinn Ewers was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after he went into Ann Arbor against one of the top defenses in the country and threw for 246 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions with a QB rating of 151.6.

On the defensive side, South Carolina DB Nick Emmanwori picked up SEC Player of the Week honors after finishing the road trip against Kentucky with 7 total tackles and a clutch interception he returned for a 24-yard-touchdown in the third quarter that sealed the victory for the Gamecocks.

The special teams honor for Week 2 went to South Carolina punter Kai Kroger, who pinned the Wildcats in their own territory with 6 punts during Saturday’s upset.

Offensive line honors are shared by Jake Majors of Texas and Cooper Mays of Tennessee. Defensive line honors were given to Oklahoma’s Gracen Halton and Alabama’s Tim Keenan III.

Finally, Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second-consecutive week after throwing for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns in Tennessee’s blowout victory over NC State.
