On Sunday, just before the kickoff of the Super Bowl, it was reported that ESPN anchor Adnan Virk had been fired for leaking confidential information to the press.

It appears Virk isn’t happy with that decision, especially since ESPN is apparently trying to fire him without severance on a new seven-figure deal for breach of contract.

Per the New York Post, Virk and his legal team are considering a lawsuit against ESPN over his firing:

Fired ESPN anchor Adnan Virk is pursuing legal action against his ex-employer, sources have told The Post. …

Sources say that Virk’s side contends he received no warning and the punishment does not fit the crime. They were shocked by the outcome, thinking that, at most, Virk might be suspended for two weeks for what they considered a lapse in judgment.

Sources on ESPN’s side point out that everyone in the company is required to take compliance training that includes not leaking confidential information, and termination could be a result.

Virk’s legal team will likely pore over his contract with a fine-toothed comb in the coming days, trying to find out what, if anything, they can do.

We’ll see what comes of this, but for now, the college football studio show anchor job is open ahead of the 2019 season.
