Was ESPN’s acquisition of Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight made in haste? It’s starting to look that way.

After acquiring the site in 2013, ESPN is reportedly already attempting to sell offFiveThirtyEight, according to Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead.

The company was acquired by former ESPN president John Skipper. With Skipper no longer in charge in Bristol, the future of FiveThirtyEight in uncertain.

An ESPN spokesperson provided The Big Lead with the following statement on the site’s future:

“FiveThirtyEight is a tremendous asset to ESPN, and together we’ve created exceptional content. We are exploring, with Nate, a variety of options for the future, and any discussion of exactly what that might look like would be premature.”
