Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin is one of the hottest names on the coaching carousel right now, with rumors connecting him to the open Arkansas job.

There’s also buzz around him potentially taking the Mizzou or Ole Miss jobs, but the most-serious buzz involves the Lane Train moving to Fayetteville.

However, on Wednesday, FootballScoop.com reported that FAU isn’t willing to let its head coach go without a fight:

There’s still a good chance Lane may end up in Fayetteville, but sources tell us to not count out FAU’s chances at convincing him of the lure of continuing to coach in paradise.

Our understanding is that a nice pay increase will go a long way in keeping Kiffin in Boca, as the challenges of competing in the rugged SEC West with the likes of Alabama and Auburn and the rebuild necessary to do that in Fayetteville will require significant work.

Kiffin has the Owls in the Conference USA title game again this year after a one-year absence.

If he’s truly happy in Boca Raton, it might be difficult for a school like Arkansas to lure him away.
