Former Alabama player Lorenzo Ward began his coaching career in 1991 as a grad assistant at Alabama before moving on to Chattanooga.

Since then, he’s been around the southeast, even spending some time in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders, but now he’ll get his first shot as a head coach.

According to a report on Sunday afternoon, Ward will serve as the interim coach at Louisville following the firing of Bobby Petrino:

Ward had been serving as Louisville’s secondary coach. He also has experience as a South Carolina assistant from 2009 to 2015, getting some time as the team’s defensive coordinator.
