Southwestern Oklahoma State University freshman Jackson Wilhite passed away suddenly Tuesday, according to Oklahoma’s News 4.

Wilhite, a freshman kicker for the team, passed away from an “unrecoverable seizure.”

He graduated from Norman North High School last May and enrolled in SWOSU in August. He quickly won the starting kicking job in fall camp and made 20-of-21 extra points and 3-of-6 field goals in 2018.

“Since arriving at SWOSU in August, Jackson embraced being a Bulldog and was a model student-athlete while competing for our football team,” SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Thurman said. “We are sending our thoughts and prayers to Jackson’s family to help comfort them following this sudden loss.”

The football program announced the news on Facebook:

Funeral services for Jackson are pending.
