With D.J. Durkin gone to become the head coach at Maryland, Michigan’s defensive coordinator position is still open.

But maybe not for long.

On Tuesday night, 247sports reported that Pruitt — who spent the last two seasons at Georgia before spending the previous one at Florida State — is “tentatively” scheduled to sit down with Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh this week about the opening.

Pruitt, 41, is widely regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country.

Of course, the Crimson Tide would also be interested in Pruitt (an Alabama native) with Kirby Smart leaving to become the head coach at Georgia. Plus, Pruitt has ties to the school as he was Nick Saban’s defensive backs coach in 2013.
